At the Academy, your learning programme is designed with your graduate profile in mind. A graduate profile describes the skills we expect you to demonstrate when you leave our academy. You will be culturally connected, have a positive sense of well-being, and be confident and competent. This means not only will you be ready for work, but you will have the skills to be a good family and community member, and you will have a strong and positive self-esteem.
Our focus: What you study
Our focus is to prepare you to be Life and Career Ready - with a focus on literacy, numeracy, health and wellbeing, robotics, coding and vocational pathways. The curriculum provides opportunities for you to study for NCEA up to Level 3 and University Entrance, as well as studying towards industry qualifications in Civil Construction.
Our kaupapa: How you study
‘Te Aratika’ means ‘the right path’ and we will help you take the right path for YOU. Your pathway may be different than others, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that you choose a pathway which enables you to leave our academy with confidence in yourself, and with qualifications to embark on a career of your choosing. Our vision is to support and encourage you on your journey to YOUR success.
You will have an individual learning plan that is designed by you, your Pou Arahi, and your Whānau. And you will be supported by a Pou Whenua (Coach).
Our profile: What you achieve
After two years at Te Aratika Academy, you should achieve two qualifications: NCEA Level 2 and NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works. You may then choose your pathway at NCEA Level 3. As a Graduate, you will demonstrate that you have a positive sense of wellbeing, that you are culturally connected, and confident and competent - and be both life and career ready!
