Ki-o-rahi nationals 2019

The 2019 Ki-o-rahi Secondary School Na- tionals competition was hosted by Ngā Taonga Takaro with support from our school and held here in the Hawkes Bay.

Leading up to Nationals, Ngā taonga takoro held referee workshops to teach those who had put our hands up how to best referee. The pressure was on to do the job and to do it well.

When it came time to ref it was very intense as every game was fast and full of fiercely talented players from across the country. Their skills and leadership were outstanding and equally matched by the wairua/energy eminating from the supporters.

All in all, it was an amazing experience to be a part of a traditional game that has been played in our ancestry for years. A game that we are proud of and love sup- porting Nationals this year
